Raised in the American “Bible Belt” and currently residing in the Southern Appalachians, choenyi has a deep background as music “custie” of industrial, postpunk, out jazz, and so forth. This eventually led to his DJing hard techno in the SF Bay Area in the mid-‘90s, where he was also hungrily consuming Japanese noise and any/all extreme sonic experiences, a preoccupation which has absorbed him since childhood, when his favorite tracks were thunder, the vacuum cleaner, and his family’s knitting mill. In ’99, he moved to NoCal and began expressing his accumulated influences through software & tape. Much of the material that ensued, entirely based on mathematical projections of psychoacoustic theory, is being slowly recycled into the techno that he is producing today.One may also find choenyi’s music on netlabels Yuki Yaki and Random Access Recordings.
